Source notes on the back of a Family Group Sheet for Samuel & Mary BLAKELY RIDINGER, regarding their children:
Info collected from Jefferson County gravestones, Marriages, etc., and family records given to Mr. J. O. Donahoe, LaPorte, Indiana, by Mrs. Eugenia Foster, Des Moines.
Re: Sarah Ann: (Per Mrs. Foster--) Wm. SAGE was a widower; he had lost his wife, leaving him with three children, Sarah, Sim and Leroy.... After he married Sarah Ann, they went to Monroe Co., near where the original SAGEs lived, out in the N.W. part, as there is a creek running through their land called Sage Creek. William and Sarah Ann (RIDINGER) SAGE had four children: George, Gehial, Mary Jane, and William Jr. Sarah Ann died in childbirth; her baby also died.
William J. SAGE was born Aug. 15, 1828; died Dec. 4, 1889, buried beside Sally Ann in Smithfield Cemetery, Monroe County, Iowa. The son George married a girl in his neighborhood by the name of Jennie AMOS, they had 3 or 4 children. Later moved to Kansas City Mo.... Gehiel or "Tobe" married Ella LITTLE and had one boy. They separated.... he died here in Des Moines and buried here. Mary Jane married John KLINGENSMITH and raised three children: William Joseph, Mamie and Bessie. Willie married Maggie NEDERMAN. Mamie married James CORNWALL, and Bessie married Fred ASKRON. Bessie is the only child left. She broke her hip and is in a wheel chair at the home of her daughter near Hamilton, Iowa. Mary Jane and John KLINGENSMITH are buried in Bussey. William SAGE Jr. "Dollie" married Ida -----, and had two children. I think they lived in Kansas City.
