Mr. John Gardner White, 4107 N.E. Hoyt, Portland, Oregon, 97232, wrote in 1966:

Martha CARSE was born in 1779 in Northern Ireland. She married, first, John JAMISON and they were the parents of two sons, the eldest, William JAMISON, born 1804 in Ireland; the second, James JAMISON, born 1806 in Ireland. John JAMISON died in 1811, and Martha (CARSE) JAMISON married, second, Henry CARSE. Relationship, if any, not known. They had two children, a son, John CARSE, born in 1818 in County Down, Ireland, and a daughter, Agnes CARSE.

James JAMISON and William JAMISON came to the United States and homesteaded in 1824. Sometime later Henry CARSE died, and Martha came to this country in 1835 and lived with her son Willie JAMISON in Mercer County, Penn., where she died on 18 Nov. 1857, and was buried. James JAMISON (or his descendants) settled around Oelwein, Iowa.
