GEORGE M. FRASHER JOINS LEDGER STAFF.
Formerly of Council Bluffs, new Ledger Telegraph Editor.

Joined Ledger news staff this week after serving as a reporter and feature writer on the Council Bluffs Nonpareil. He succeeds Robert Elliott, who was named assistant sports editor of the Iowa City Press-Citizen in October. A native of Cedar Rapids, FRASHER holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Iowa. He returned to the field of journalism in 1962 after eight years as an Iowa high school teacher and coach. He was a teacher and coach at Muscatine high school for five years. FRANSER also served as a sports writer at the Cedar Rapids Gazette for four years and sports editor of the LaPorte, Ind., Herald-Argus for three years. In addition to his duties as Ledger telegraph editor, he will also have charge of high school sports coverage. Mrs. FRASHER is an elementary teacher at Council Bluffs. She will join her husband in Fairfield later in the year.

FRASHER's grandfather, George H. FRASHER, was a pioneer Jefferson County newpaperman (sic) and publisher of the Fairfield Republican (Jefferson County 'Republican'). He also published papers in Salina, Pleasant Plain, Richland and Brighton before his death in 1928. FRASHER's father, the late John FRASHER, was born and reared in Fairfield.
