Deacon Asa EMERSON, who served in the Revolutionary War, was born in 1749 and died Feb. 10, 1822. He married Eunice FOSTER Oct. 25, 1781. His wife Eunice FOSTER EMERSON died June 17, 1822. Asa EMERSON was a Corporal, Clerk and Sergeant in Vermont troops, under Captains Hodges and Hazen and Colonels March and Wood.

Asa EMERSON Jr., son of Deacon Asa and Eunice (FOSTER) EMERSON, was born March 14, 1786; died 1855. His wife was Elizabeth OLNEY; she died May 3, 1842. They were married Jan. 26, 1809. They came from Ohio (probably Morgan Co.) north of the Ohio River where two sons had drowned. They came down the Ohio River and on the Mississippi, and located in Lee County, Iowa, near Denmark or Lowell and lived on a farm near Pilot Grove and were buried on their farm.

Their son William John EMERSON was born May 7, 1833 and died Sept. 23, 1889. He was united in marriage with Catherine WILSON Sept. 19, 1858. She was born Oct. 31, 1837; died Jan. 6, 1918 (sic - 5th on gravestone). William John EMERSON attended the Denmark Academy. He was a rural school teacher for many years, and he was a farmer. They lived in Jefferson County and are buried in the Lambirth Cemetery. They lived about five miles south of Lockridge, Iowa.

Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine. Asa EMERSON Jr. brought the Bible with him from Ohio to Iowa. (Handwritten note: Bible was in custody of Mrs. Anna EMERSON CHANDLER, aunt of Amy EMERSON MASDEN.)
