"WILL NEARLY A CENTURY OLD. Amos Mills, great-grandfather of Henry and Jerry Coffin, Disposes of his property.
The following will, now almost one hundred years old, was the last will and testament of Amos Mills, great-grandfather of Henry Coffin, nine miles north of Fairfield, and Jerry Coffin, who resides just across the county line, in Washington County. It was recently discovered by a relative and a copy sent to Henry Coffin. . . . .At the time it was written Amos Mills was 73 years 2 months and 27 days old, having been born on Opequon Creek, near Winchester, Va., Oct 27 1852 (1752?).Be it remembered, that on the 24th day of the First Month 1826, that I, Amos Mills, of Guilford County, State of North Carolina, being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following:
First and foremost, it is my will that all just debts and funeral charges be paid.
Item - I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth, all my lands and tenaments during her natural life . . . .
Son Jeremiah Mills . . . . .
Item - I give unto my son, Nathan, my rifle gun.
Item - To son Jonathan, six yards of homespun cloth.
Item - To daughter, Elizabeth, couch, two ewe sheep.
Item - To daughter, Rachel Maris, two ewe sheep.
Item - To granddaughter Rachel Mills, one 2-yr. old heifer.
Item - To granddaughter Ruth Mills, its first heifer calf.
(Rachel Mills was Henry and Jerry Coffin's mother and Ruth Mills their aunt.)
Item - Also that Betsey Mills have the first heifer calf that Ruth's has. . . . .
Executors: Son Jeremiah and John Maris.
