MITCHELLs celebrating 65th wedding anniversary

Roy and Ruth MITCHELL of Packwood are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary today.

Roy MITCHELL and Ruth LEINBAUGH were united in marriage Dec. 1, 1945, in the Methodist Church in Iowa City. Mrs. MITCHELL has taught school in Hedrick, Mount Pleasant and Packwood. Mr. MITCHELL served in World War II as a member of the 10th Armored Division.

Since their marriage, the MITCHELLs first resided on a farm in Fairfield and later moved to Packwood. The couple has been active in many community organizations, and they have been members of Packwood's Methodist and Christian churches. Both are fans of the Pekin Panthers and Iowa Hawkeyes. Mr. MITCHELL is a St. Louis Cardinals fan, and Mrs. MITCHELL is a Chicago Cubs fan.

The couple has four children: Steve and wife Karyn of St. Charles, Ill., Mike of Batavia, Rob and wife Lori of Fairfield, and Julie MITCHELL-CRAIG and husband Don of Marion. They have two grandsons.
