The Fairfield High School class of 1964 gathered Sept. 25-26 for its 45-year reunion.
The weekend's activities began Sept. 25 at the home of Fred and Nancy BEHNER, where classmates gathered for an evening of meeting friends and reminiscing.
The class gathered again Sept. 26 at the Walton Club for a buffet dinner. Sharon SAMUELSON JAMES spearheaded the making of the ice cream/chocolate/malt dessert that was a Fairfield tradition at the old Gaumer Drug Store soda fountain in Fairfield.
Following the meal, Kathryn TURNEY ALLEN and Ned EWERT emceed the program, sharing high school memories and recognizing the 21 deceased classmates. ALLEN also had prepared a PowerPoint presentation of old photos showing classmates through the years. Numerous door prizes were presented, and each classmate received a print highlighting Fairfield landmark buildings.
The group was then surprised with a special visit by "Elvis" -- impersonator Junior Talley, who sang and performed a medley of vintage Elvis Presley songs.
Classmates attending from Fairfield were: LeRoy ANDERSON, Fred BEHNER, Sharyn COX YEOMAN, Janet HASTINGS MILLER, Sharyn KELLER WORKMAN, Gene LUEDTKE, Jeri MILLER MYERS, Jerry SIRDOREUS and Victor ZARAGOZA.
From the surrounding area were Cindy NELSON DUNN, Libertyville; Terry SWAN, Libertyville; Janet WAUGH MEEK, Stockport; Dennis DIEHL, Keosauqua; Mary Jo DAUB FREYENBERGER, Wayland; and Judy STEELE MOTE, Mount Pleasant.
Other Iowa attendees were Bill BLOUGH, Iowa City; Ken COOP, Urbandale; Jerry CRANDALL, Coin; Dan GRINSTEAD, Davenport; Lewis HEGHIN, Emmetsburg; Gayle LAWSON, Cedar Rapids; Janyce PECH, Cedar Rapids; Ron SHIELDS, Palo; Karen SMITHBURG KELLER, Davenport; and Dave WHITE, Grimes.

The FHS class of 1964 is planning to hold its 50-year reunion in September, 2014.
