Duane "Butch" and Dixie GATES will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Douds Community Center.
The couple was married Sept. 5, 1959, at the former Zion Lutheran Church. They lived all 50 years of their married life in the Douds community.
The open house is hosted by their children: Diana and Jamie WILLIAMS of Ottumwa; Debbie GATES and Tom BUNCH of Winnemucca, Nev.; Randy and Elizabeth GATES of Douds; and Teresa and Brent BURKHALTER of Birmingham. They have four grandsons and two step-grandsons.
The couple requests no gifts at the open house, but cards would be appreciated.
