WHITMOREs celebrate 50th

Mel and Judith WHITMORE of Fairfield will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday with a gathering, which has been planned by their children.

Mel WHITMORE and Judith SCHWEITZER were married Aug. 23, 1958, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hedrick.

Mrs. WHITMORE is a retired teacher from the Fairfield Community School District where she taught for 31 years. Mr. WHITMORE is a retired electrical contractor. The WHITMOREs formerly ran the Western Auto Store.

Their children are Doug WHITMORE and wife Angie of Cedar Rapids, Renee HORRAS and husband George of Richland and Chris WHITMORE of Cedar Rapids. The couple has five grandchildren.
