Search for missing woman ends

The body of Kristine Winter BROBSTON was found by volunteer searchers Thursday evening near a bicycle trail at Gear and Eighth. She had been reported missing Tuesday morning. No foul play is suspected in her death.

The search for 44-year-old- Kristine Kay Winter BROBSTONE came to an end shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday when she was found dead near a bicycle trail just north of Gear Avenue and North Eighth Street.

Lt. Julie Harvey of the Fairfield Police Department said the body was discovered in a highly weeded and vegetated area by members of a volunteer search party. The Fairfield Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson County Area Ambulance and the Jefferson County medical examiner were called to the scene.

BROBSTON had been reported missing since Tuesday morning and was thought to possibly be having a medical emergency. Searches carried out by police Tuesday and by volunteers Wednesday had uncovered no leads.

The circumstances surrounding BROBSTON’S death remain under investigation, and her body has been transported to Des Moines for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Funeral arrangement for BROBSTON are pending at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.

BROBSTON’S family and area law enforcement officials would like to thank friends, family and community members for their efforts to help locate BROBSTON during the past few days.
