New Sweden M.E. Cemetery

Plaque on East face of boulder:

DANIELSON, John, Died Nov. 8, 1884, Aged 85yrs. 2 mo. 13 Days.
Elizabeth (ANDERSON), wife of John, Died Aug. 31 1885 Aged 93 yrs. 18 days.

Plaque on West face:

“In this church yard are buried many of the first band of people of Swedish birth who settled west of the Mississippi River in 1845. Among those who made up this party of pioneers were the following:
John DANIELSON, wife Elizabeth ANDERSON and children: Victor, John A., Maria A., Matilda J., and Frank O.;
Peter CASSEL, wife Kathrine ANDERSON, and children: Charles J., Andrew F., Matilda, Kathrine and Gustave;
Peter ANDERSON and wife and three children;
Erick and Sarah ANDERSON;
John MONSON, wife Kathrine CASSEL and children Mary and Louisa.
All came from Kisa and vicinity, Sweden.
