"Jefferson County Republican", Aug. 26, 1904, Pg. 8, Col. 3

FOUR CORNERS.... H. G. SHRINER, the Fairfield artist, is spending a couple of weeks at the Claus J. LINDQUIST home. He intends to make several paintings, among them Mr. LINDQUIST working at the forge, and several horses drinking at an old well. He painted the old log blacksmith shop last year and has it on exhibition at the St. Louis Fair. He will receive about $3000 for the painting of the shop. Brush Creek is rich in rustic beauty for which the painter is always seeking. (Note: "Old Blacksmith Shop" now [1969] in Public Library.)
