JOHN AUGUST, Fairfield, Iowa, born in Hohen Soken, Sweden, May 8, 1832. His parents were very poor.... In 1853 they sailed for Québec.... In 1858 he came to Jefferson County, Iowa, Buchanan Township; On Sept. 22, 1858 (John AUGUST) married Matilda SAMELSON, born Kisa Co., Sweden, Apr. 12, 1835; 8 children, of whom three were deaf mutes; one of the three and also three others died in childhood. Living are Emma E., wife of Christian JOHNSON; Albert A.; Alfrida A., wife of Frank LUNDQUIST; and Hannah E.. Lutheran.
