Samuel GILLETT was born March 28, 1799. In 1822 he married and afterwards removed to Cattaraugus Co., N.Y., and thence, in 1837, to Iroquois Co., Ill.. In Jan., 1838, the family removed to Franklin Co., Ohio, and in the spring of 1846 to Jefferson County, Iowa, locating near Fairfield on the farm now owned by W. E. GROFF. One son was Isaac C. GILLETT, born Jan. 19, 1825. The mother died Aug. 16, 1846, and the father departed this life on the 18th of January, 1848.
