Jessie Benton ROSS was a daughter of John ROSS, born 11 Feb., 1825, in Fayette County, Penn.; died 5 July 1914 at Fairfield, and his wife Rebecca Jane WINDERS (1826-1912). John ROSS was son of Hananiah Lincoln ROSS (1800-80) and his wife Hannah RIDER ROSS (1806-1891). Rebecca Jane (WINDERS) ROSS was daughter of Samuel and Margaret (BURNSIDE) WINDERS.

Hannaniah Lincoln ROSS was son of Robert ROSS (1753-1823) who served as corporal, 1776, in Capt. James Taylor's company, 4th Pennsylvania battalion, under Col. Anthony Wayne. He was born and died in Pennsylvania; in 1873 married Dorcas ANDREWS (1755-1835). See DAR #83559, Mrs. May Davies HANNA. DAR #69663 shows that Corp. Robert ROSS was color bearer at the storming of Stony Point; he was born in Lancaster County; died in Fayette County, Pa.,

The RIDER family is represented in Log Cabin Chapter DAR by Miss Ruth RIDER, DAR #390295, Descendant of Corp. Robert ROSS, and Roberta RIDER KINNEY, DAR #453476.
