McKAIN, FAIRFIELD CIVIL WAR VETERAN, ATTAINS 90TH YEAR

Fairfield, Ia., Jan. 19 - J.M. McKain celebrated his 90th birthday anniversary today. He is in good health and delights to visit with his friends and comrades for he is a Civil war veteran being a member of Company I, 18th Iowa Infantry.
He was born in Logan county, Ohio, Jan. 19, 1839, and when he was 11 years old came to Washington county, Iowa, with his parents. He married Rosa Dillon, Oct. 22, 1868. She died in 1925. There are two sons, Clyde, Omaha, Neb; and Ray, Independence. The McKain family moved to Fairfield in 1877 and made its home here since. Since the death of his wife Mr. McKain has made his home at the Iowa Soldiers Home at Marshalltwon most of the time. When he gets lonely for his old friends he returns to Fairfield.
