IN DAYS GONE BY -- (70 YEARS AGO -- 1859). On Wednesday of last week the following gentlemen returned from the gold regions: J. S. BECK, M. J. JUNKIN, Robert READY, Lee TAYLOR, W. H. H. PATRICK, and W. W. FOX. On last Wednesday Henry MERCER returned. Those with whom we conversed seemed very well satisfied with the success which attended their efforts for gold in the Rocky Mountains. Although they did not make their thousands, they are satisfied they did better than they would have done had they stayed at home. The gold is there, but it takes very hard work to get it.
