J. W. MESSICK of this city beat the bass drum in the martial band which had a part in the exercises attending the departure of Co. M. Mr. MESSICK had performed like service in three wars -- the Mexican War, the rebellion and the war with Spain.
Note: In the Mexican War, James W. MESSICK was Pvt. 3d Reg., U.S. Inf..
