LEDGER, Wednesday, May 29 1878, 3-5.

...Mr. [Daniel W.] Inghram has been a resident of Fairfield for several years, as a C.B. & Q employe[e] and the proprietor of the popular news depot...With this wedding is happily connected a little story, which in the hands of a modern novelist might readily form the thread of romance and could nicely fill the woof of a love story of the latter day.

As is well known, Mr. I. was formerly an engineer on the C.B. &Q. While in the discharge of his duty on 27 October 1874 the engine and train of which he had charge was wrecked about 2 1/2 miles west of the city...

Inghran was terribly bruised and mangled, and his life almost despaired of. In this condition he was taken to the house of Mr. H.B. Mitchell, where he lay for some time in a precarious condition...During his long confinement to the house, the burden of the care of the invalid fell heavily upon Miss Hellen...

While a railroad wreck seldom leads to a happy result, it has in this case...
