"In 1859 Thomas PARKINSON had the Third grade, Fairfield schools - $35 per month. A primary school opened on the 5th of May, in one of the rooms of Mungo RAMSEY's house, with Mrs. Jane PARKINSON installed as teacher, at a salary of $20 per month."
