"27 May 1878, State of Iowa, County of Jefferson -- Mary A. FULTON, aged 71 years, a resident of Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa, declares she is the widow of William FULTON... that her said husband enlisted at Chillicothe, Ohio, on or about the ___ day of August 1812... She was married to the said William FULTON at Fairfield 21 May 1851.... Her name before said marriage was Mary A. MUNHALL and that her former husband's name was John MUNHALL and that he died at Brookville, Ohio, in Oct., 1840; that her said husband William FULTON was married before he married this affiant; that his said wife was named Mary FULTON and she died at Ft. Madison, Iowa, in 1850... the following have been the places of residence of herself and her said husband since the date of his discharge from the army... her said husband lived after his discharge near Chillicothe, Ohio, until he left said state of Ohio and removed to Fairfield, Iowa, where he died.... her said husband William FULTON during his lifetime made application for Land Warrant and that the same was allowed and the warrant was duly issued.... her post office is Fairfield."
