Henry KARNS was Postmaster of Libertyville circa 1859-60. See Vol. 3, Jefferson County Records, Page 167.

Three of the sons served in the Civil War:
Benjamin C. KARNS, Co. F, 3rd Iowa Cav. Reg;
Lewis H. KARNS, Co. B, 19th Iowa Vol. Inf. Reg.; and
Michael KARNS in Co. B, 6th Iowa Vol. Inf. Reg..
