SAMPSON PEARSON, father of Mrs. Amos TAYLOR, was born in Miami County, Ohio, where for many years he worked as a farmer and blacksmith. He was of English descent, but the mother, whose birth occurred in Shelby Co., Ohio, was of Irish and Scotch (sic) extraction. They came to Iowa in 1853, settling in Des Moines Township, Jefferson County. After residing there for 22 years they went to Missouri, where they both died, the mother on 12 Mar. 1885, at the home of her daughter Edna, and the father in Nodaway County, at the home of his son Young, on 5 Jan., 1898. The PEARSONs had nine children:

1-Mary E., married Amos TAYLOR

2-Silas, living Libertyville, Iowa

3-4-5-6 - Young, Henry, John, and George, all deceased

7-Rachel, living in Missouri

8-9 - Edna and Annie, both also deceased.
