May 18, 1946GRADUATION HELD FOR LOCKRIDGE SENIORS AND EIGHTH GRADE
Lockridge senior and eighth grade commencement exercises were held Thursday night in the community hall. After a program, diplomas were awarded to six eighth grade pupils and thirteen seniors.
The following program was given:
Processional - W.E. Prouty
Invocation - Rev. Warren Green
Salutatory - June Lewis
"Hail to Commencement Day" - H.S. Girls' Chorus
Trombone Solo - Dale Dillavou
Valedictory - Emery Crane, jr.
Commencement address, "The Cost of Ignorance"- Dr. Karl Ellis, Dean of Iowa Wesleyan college.
"April Showers" - H.S. Girl's Sextette
Presentation of 9th Grade - Mrs. Harold Leathers.
Presentation of Diplomas - Roy Berg, President of the Board of Education.
Athletic Letter Awards - Mrs. Leathers and Mr. Rauscher.
Presentation of Seniors - Supt. Mrs. Ralph Sutherlin.
Presentation of Diplomas - Mr. Berg
Benediction - Rev. Green
Recessional - Mrs. Roy Billingsley
Eighth Grade Class Roll:
The six eighth grade graduates were Alice Marie Burnett, Forrest Lee Keller, Martha C. Overholser, James Carroll, Sanagon Sasseen and Verna Lavon Warner.
Senior Graduates:
Robert H. Berg, Dorothy Etta [or Ella] Burnett, Harold LeRoy Carlson, Joyce Darlene Cline, George R. Craff, Emery Crane, jr., Harold Fillinger, W. Bayne Gohn, Lela June Lewis, Ruth Marie Overholser, Jane Arlene Roth, Mary Ann Statler, and Glenneva Maude Vest.
The Senior class colors are purple and white; the class flower, yellow rose and the class motto is "We Will Find a Way or Make One."
