PEEBLER-GARBER Family History.... An Authentic Record dating back over 200 years is held by Frank GARBER, and the American history of the family was traced to the present time. The earliest ancestor of the PEEBLER family that we know anything about was Christian SEARS. He was born about 1730 in Switzerland. With other members belonging to the Dunkard church, he settled in Holland during early manhood, and later emigrated with them to America.
They landed in Philadelphia, Penn., settled in North Carolina and later moved to Kentucky, where he died. Christian SEARS was twice married and was the father of ten children. His first wife was tragically killed when the limb of a great tree fell on her. One of their daughters was named Easter SEARS. At this time Michael PEEBLER Sr. lived with his family in Kentucky. He married Easter SEARS, daughter of Christian SEARS. Later they moved to Liberty, Ill., and then to Jefferson County, Iowa, and established the PEEBLER homestead. Michael PEEBLER Sr. is buried in the Fell Cemetery near Libertyville and his wife was buried at Liberty, Ill..
Michael PEEBLER Jr. was born in Kentucky May 6, 1809. He married Fannie JACKS, born in Kentucky June 19, 1816. They moved with their families to Illinois and southeastern Iowa.
