W. V. Linder of this city knew the whereabouts of Frank and James THOMPSON, sons of Shelton THOMPSON, who moved to Fairfield about 1851 from Abingdon, Va., and about whom Mrs. David A. PRESTON of Abingdon, Va., was trying to find information....

It was learned that one of the boys was a preacher and at one time lived in Keokuk, and that the other one had moved to Mahaska County, where members of the family are still living. The THOMPSONs came to Jefferson County about the time Abingdon, Iowa, was started, and which was named for the town in Virginia by the same name.
