BEALL, Jas. M., of Co. I, 9 Io. Cav., Died at Benton Bks., St. Louis, April 17, 1864 in the 30th year of his age.

From Evelyn (LOHMILLER) JACOBS, Waltham, Mass., 5 Jan. 1963 ~~ from records she obtained from the National Archives:

James M. BEALL, first enlistment, 5 Nov. 1861, at Fairfield, Iowa, Pvt. in Capt. A. H. PIERCE's Co. M, 4th Iowa Cavalry. Born in Hancock Co., Va. Second enlistment, 20 Sept, 1863, at Libertyville, Co. I, 9th Cavalry Reg. Died at Benton Barracks, St. Louis, Mo. 17 Apr 1864 of typhoid fever. He was 5'10", dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair. Farmer.
