CHRISTNER SUSPECT IN RECLUSE HOLDUP AT LOCKRIDGE HELD

Fairfield, Ia., Jan. 23 - Hiff Christner, aged 24, a resident of Henry county, has been arrested by Sheriff Lane Stansferry, suspected of the attempt to hold up William Knerr, an aged recluse, in his small cabin four miles northeast of Lockridge a week ago. According to Mr. Kneer someone knocked at the door and when he opened it he was instantly commanded to "throw up your hands." Instead he grabbed an iron poker and struck his caller, routing him quickly. The warrant for Christner's arrest was sworn out by Kneer. Christner was questioned yesterday but steadfastly denied any knowledge of the holdup attempt.
