John BISHOP was born in Virginia in 1826. Mary HUFFMAN BISHOP was the first white child born in Van Buren County. In 1850 BISHOP removed from Ohio to Iowa, locating in Van Buren County, where he followed the carpenter's trade and also engaged in farming. He subsequently acquired titles to 200 acres of land in Jefferson County....
