JOHN BISHOP, farmer, Liberty Twp., Jefferson County, one of six children of Sylvester and Rachel (BARKER) BISHOP, father native of West Virginia and in that state was married in 1821... On mother's side the grandfather served in War of 1812.

John BISHOP, born 22 Sept. 1826, Ohio, in 1850 to Van Buren County, Iowa.... On 4 Mar. 1854, John BISHOP married Mary E., daughter of Burk and Mary HUFFMAN of Van Buren County.... nine children to John and Mary HUFFMAN BISHOP, 3 died in infancy. Living: Joseph Talbot, Sylvester Burk, Ann Maria, Robert, Carl and Mary.... Sylvester married Emma HEALD....
