Page 4, col. 4.PROF. ALONZO WEBB, Supt. Of the drawing in all the public schools of Nashville, Tenn., was a caller yesterday. He is a Jefferson County boy, born and grew to manhood on his father, HANNIBAL WEBB’S farm near Salina. He visited his father and sister over Sabbath and was on his way to attend the Western drawing Association at Rock Island. When MR. WEBB was quite a small boy we sold him cards on which he drew many beautiful pictures. He was a born artist and stayed with it until he is now superintendent of drawing in all the public schools in Nashville. He has about 6,000 children under his instructions and gets a good salary. He has a book of his own get-up on drawing which is a leader in nearly all the public schools of the United States. The morning he left home for Iowa, he informed us, he received an order from Chicago for 26,000 of these books. The Republican wishes him success.
