George Benton, farmer, Clinton Co., Iowa, born near Birmingham, Eng., in 1813; to this country 1836; Iowa in 1839. Married Miss Mary Folck in Davenport 1843; settled in Clinton Co., Iowa 1845; 7 children living. . . . .Mrs. Benton's father, Abraham Folch, native of Penn., b. 1793; served in War of 1812, wounded at New Orleans; also served in Black Hawk War, comm. Captain; married Mary Coop in Wabash Co., Ind.; she was a sister of Gen. W. G. Coop. . . . .
