Charles Kirk died at Lockridge on the 14th, one of the cruellest and most deplorable deaths in the history of the county, being burned to death by the bursting of a gasoline lamp in his hands. Mr. Kirk was a grandson of Mr. Joseph Kirk, one of the four remaining pioneers of the first year's settlement of the county, and great-grandson of Alexander Kirk, who served as auctioneer in selling the lots of the original plat of Fairfield.
