“Sketch of George Snider, 1821-1906. Son of John and Phoebe Snider. Children of John and Phoebe: Jacobennia, deceased wife of Charles Shy; John, Jr., also deceased; George married Mary Ann Kistler; and Lizzie who became the wife of Andrew Altman, and died in Kansas. . . . .Lutheran Church. George was born in Bavaria; married 22 Jan. 1842, Mary Ann Kistler, whose parents were natives of Penn.; they had 11 children; Mary, born June 8 1846, married Abe Herman, of Black Hawk Twp., Jefferson County; John born Sept 27 1851; Black Hawk Twp. Farmer; Sophia, born Nov 23 1853, married Frank Herman of the same township; Lydia A., born Apr 14 1856, married James Iset, of Kansas; Charles, born Feb 11 1858, with his father on the home farm; Sarah Jane born Oct 25 1862, married Albert Steel of Richland, Keokuk Co.; William A., born July 27 1867, married Miss Nora Kistler; farmer and miner and lives near the old homestead; Martin Luther, born June 16 1870, is a miner, and George W., born Aug 17 1872 is at home. . . . . .”
