The Whitacre family came to America in 1698 from London, England. This record was originally compiled by Robert H. Whitacre in 1899 and extended in 1947 by Joseph H. Whitacre.

“I, Robert H. Whitacre, do certify that I am the son of Joseph A. Whitacre, and Hannah Hawley Whitacre his wife, and of the sixth generation from John Whitacre and Jane Scott, his wife. I was born March 6, 1832, at Pensdale, Lycoming County, Penna.

I have spent parts of two years corresponding with uncles and aunts and other relatives, also spent some money in securing a correct genealogy of my ancestors, and have obtained thrugh them as complete and correct a history as can be collected from Bible records, county seat records, and my own personal knowledge of our branch of the family. I have taken especial pains to have the correct births and deaths as recorded in family bibles.
