Born in East Tennessee Dec 24 1820 and traces his ancestry back to early Colonial days when his great-grandfather, William Crumly, resided in Virginia. Large slave-holder and served in the Revolution. His son William was a farmer and removed to Tennessee when that country was first settled. His son Abraham was born in Greene Co., Tenn. in 1787. . . . .Abraham Crumly, father of Isaac H., married Miss Elizabeth Marshall born 25 June 1796, dau. of Abram and Martha (Doane) Marshall; she died 29 Mar. 1827. Abraham married, 2nd, Jane McNees, who died 8-18-1845. Isaac H. Crumly was son of the first marriage. Isaac H. married, 1st, in 1844, Miss Rebecca L. Hackney; came to Jefferson County in 1848; wife died May 1854 leaving four children, only one now survives: Alfred who is a miller at Pleasant Plain. Two died in childhood and Elizabeth T. who married Aaron Burgess is also deceased. On 20 June 1859 Mr. Crumly married, 2nd, Miss Rachel Beals, dau. of Thomas and Margaret (Brown) Beals of Tennessee. Her mother died 9-5-1854 in Tennessee, but her father came to Iowa with his sons; died 2-18-1856. Seven children: William A., born Mar. 14 1860, is an engineer in the mill at Pleasant Plain; Wendell P., born Feb 18 1862; Marian B., Dec. 29, 1863; Emeline C., Apr 7 1866; Harvey D., Feb 2 1868; Flora A., Feb 6 1870, and Isaac N., Apr 6 1872. . . . .
