One source says b. 05 Apr 1791 Adair Co KY, her obit says age 87, National Archives says age 84 in 1878.

20 Aug 1878: Claim of Widow for Service Pension -- Melinda Litton, aged 84 years, resident of Jefferson County, State of Iowa; her husband volunteered at Columbia, Ky.; was at that time six feet in height, Grey eyes, very dark or black hair. She was married to the said Burton Litton at her residence, Clary Grove, Sangamon County, Illinois, 14 May 1833, by Wm. Crow, M.G.; her name before her said marriage was Melinda Workman; that she was before married, and that her former husband's name was John Workman. Her said husband, Burton Litton, died at Round Prairie, Jefferson County, Iowa, on 26th April 1874; husband received Pension, Certificate No. 11,700, dated Jan. 30, 1872. Her residence is Round Prairie, P.O. Vega, Jefferson County, State of Iowa. George Chapman, Notary Public.

21 Mar 1881: Rec'd of Burton Litton (Jr.), Twenty Dollars for Coffin for Melinda Litton, dec'd. W. B. Frame.

Mrs. Litton, familiarly known as Aunt Malinda, a friend to all who knew her, departed this life Sunday morning, March 20th, in the eighty-seventh year of her age. Deceased was a native of Virginia, from which state her parents moved while she was yet young to Kentucky. From there she went to live in Illinois with her husband, Mr. Workman, where she became a widow, and married Mr. Burton Litton, Sr., a few years after which they settled in this county, which was in 1845. She leaves a large circle of friends, as she had an extensive acquaintance through the country and was highly esteemed by all. Her demise was not unlooked for. She had been failing for some months and the final had been anticipated.
