Born in West Liberty, West Virginia, June 29, 1823, and was married to Catherine MOUNT at Washington, Penn., Nov. 18, 1846. His wife died in this city May 2, 1855, and of four children by this marriage only two are now living: Mrs. Sarah A. KARNS, Chicago, and Wm. J. WHITHAM in Phillips County, Col..
Feb. 21, 1856, he was married in this city to Mrs. Emily A. DRAVO (nee MUNHALL) who survives him. Thirteen children were born to them and nine are still living. Charles W. resides in this county; Hamlin H. and John W. at Everett, Wash.; Martin L. at St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Grace HILSEBECK at Holdrege, Neb.; Frank H., Emily, Rollo C. and Nellie at Holyoke, Col..
Mr. WHITHAM came to Fairfield in 1850, removed to Thayer County, Neb., in 1880, and in 1887 to Holyoke.... Lutheran, then Presbyterian. He was a man of exemplary habits and character, beloved by his family and many friends and honored and respected by all who knew him.
