Wagoner, Amanda (Hanawalt) Finner
Amanda J. Finner, wife of J. S. Finner died at 11:45 Tuesday night at her home, 11 south 4th Street. She had been in failing health for some time, and death was caused by heart disease.
Mrs. Finner was born Amanda Jane Hanawalt December 2, 1865 at Muscatine and in 1884 married John Wagoner. Two children survive this union, John A. Wagoner and Mrs. Clayton Tower of this city. Mr. Wagoner died in 1914 and in 1918 his widow married Mr. Finner at Regina, Sask., Canada, living there 13 months before coming to this city. She is also survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. They are James G. Hanawalt, Elmer Hanawalt, Mrs. Scott Good and Mrs. Lyman Young of Colfax, Mrs. John Dimond, Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Ida E. Kahl, Kansas City, Kansas. Mrs. Finner was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 O'clock at the Christian Church. Rev. L. W. Harper will conduct the services and burial will be in Riverside.
Note: Her name is listed on her first husband's stone at Slaughter Cemetery in Jasper County, but she is actually buried behind the stone of her second husband, John Finner. There is no stone for her there.
