E. R. Peck died at his home in Metz, on Thursday afternoon, July 25th, within two days of his 80th birthday.
Mr. Peck has been well known in Jasper County for over forty years. He was a native of New York, but much of his younger life was spent in Pennsylvania. In 1854 he came to this county, settling on a farm near Prairie City, on which he lived until a few yeas ago, when he moved to Metz where his remaining days were spent.
He leaves an aged companion, besides eight children by a former marriage. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. C. Brooks, of this city, at the home on Friday afternoon, and the interment made in the Greenleaf (Mound Prairie) Cemetery, by the side of the wife of his former marriage.
