Connie Cae Horton, age 69 of Colfax, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. A private graveside service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Mitchell and Gladys (Brown) Hendee, Connie was born on September 18, 1945, in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1963. On November 12, 1966, she was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Horton. Over the years Connie worked as the librarian at the Colfax Public Library, for the Monroe Folding Table Company, and until her retirement, she worked for Casey's.

Connie enjoyed singing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines female barbershop group during their time living in St. Louis, Missouri. Dancing was also a favorite pastime, and Connie liked to tell stories of dance contests that she and Dick won top prizes in. In more recent years, Connie really enjoyed to read, but most of all she loved to spend time with her two grandchildren.

Those left to honor Connie's memory include her husband, Dick; a son, J.C. (Jamie) Horton of Bondurant, and two grandchildren, Emma and Joshua. Preceding her in death were her parents and a son, Eric. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 25 Jan 2015.
