Evelyn Ferguson, 79, of Baxter passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at her home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at the Baxter Community Center located at 203 South Main St., Baxter, Iowa. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation and will begin at 1 p.m. She will be laid to rest in the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News.

Evelyn Ferguson, 79, of Baxter passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at her home.

She will be laid to rest in the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

Evelyn was born on March 12, 1933 to Fritz and Annita (Goerke) Stubbe in Hamburg, Germany. On December 13, 1958 she married Russell Ferguson in Lanstuhl, Germany. After the death of Russell Evelyn moved to the United States and later became a U.S. citizen in 1969. She relocated to the Des Moines area and made it her home. She operated and owned a popular bar, Evelyn's Highlander, in the Des Moines area for about 7 years.

In 1990 Evelyn moved to Baxter to help raise her granddaughter Nicole. She enjoyed spending time with her family, planting flowers and gardening, attending garage sales, and going antiquing.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her daughter, Kitty Ferguson of Baxter; granddaughter, Nicole Ferguson of Baxter; and her brother, Wolfgang Stubbe, of Germany. ~ The Colfax Tribune, 26 Jul 2012.
