Mrs. Velma Johnson Died Last Thursday
Grand River Township Woman Was 46 Years of Age
Mrs. Velma O. Johnson, a resident of Grand River township for many years, died last Thursday, Jan. 30, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. Her death resulted from cancer for years.
Mrs. Johnson was the former Velma Opal Smith. She was born Jun 13, 1911, in Jasper county, a daughter of Maxelee and Jennie Wicker Smith.
She was married to Ralph Johnson on Oct. 23, 1946. Her church affiliation was with the Foursquare tabernacle.
Surviving are her husband and two sons, Richard and Max, at home; two brothers, Lewis Smith of Des Moines and Doyle Smith of Silver Springs, Md., and a sister, Illo Fredregill of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held here Monday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. LeRoy Bussinger, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made at Vandalia.
