GREELEY, Colo. — Lela M. Kleinendorst, 91, of Life Care Center of Greeley in Greeley, Colo., formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, in Greeley.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of First United Methodist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name or to Alzheimer's Research Association.
The daughter of Walter B. and Bessie (Marlenee) Huitt, she was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Wiota. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1932. On Feb. 12, 1938, she married Lester "Bud" Carroll Kleinendorst in Adel. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting afghans, gardening and canning for her family and friends.
Mrs. Kleinendorst lived in Jasper County from 1938 to 1998, when she moved to Greeley, Colo., to be near her daughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Paul of Greeley, Colo., and Pamela (Kenneth) Taylor of Downington, Pa.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Tracy Huitt and Merrill Huitt; and two sisters, Eva Montgomery and Velma Short.
