Capitola Chloe "Cappy" Heifner, 88, of 1404 S. Eighth Ave. E. died Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from noon until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her name, to American Heart Association or to Alzheimer's Association.

The daughter of Earnest Milton Heifner and Bessie Lena (Ellyson) Heifner, she was born April 10, 1917, in Neck City, Mo. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1937. She lived in Kansas City, Mo., and was a resident of Jasper County since 1931. She worked for The Vernon Company for 36 years and retired in 1979. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a librarian for the church. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.

Survivors include a sister, Betty June Heifner of Newton and several cousins.
