Mildred Beatrice Dixon, 99, of Careage of Newton died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at Careage of Newton.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. David Smiley of First Baptist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Newton First Baptist Church in her name.

The daughter of Alvan P. and Effie M. (Morris) Hennon, she was born June 16, 1906, in Sullivan County, Mo. On Oct. 19, 1925, she married Damon P. Dixon in Putman County, Mo. She was a homemaker and worked for Maytag Company for 10 years. She was a member of Newton First Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible and praying. She taught Sunday school for many years. She also enjoyed cooking and embroidery.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Knight of Newton; a grandson who was raised by Mildred and Damon, Robert "Buzz" (Maria) Dixon of Placentia, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Hurley of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Beverly Dixon; a daughter and son-in-law, Deloris and Ronald Reynolds; son-in-law, Donald Knight; two brothers, Melvin and Marion; and a sister, Mable Christy.
