C. M. Gannon Rites Held June 13th
Services for Charles Maurice Gannon, 65, lifelong resident of the Mingo area, were held Saturday June 13, 1970 at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.
The Rev. Karl Holtkamp, pastor of the Colfax Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Valeria, officiated.
Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
Edward J. Gannon, Jr was the soloist and was accompanied by Miss Barbara Hanna, organist.
Bearers were Charles Gannon, Donald Gannon, Patrick Gannon, Paul Gannon, Richard Gannon and Thomas Cannon.
Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
Mr. Gannon was drowned in the cistern on the farm of Mrs. Teresa Gannon and her son, Bill, near Mingo, Tuesday, June 9, 1970.
The son of William James and Mary Catherine O’Roake Gannon, he was born Sept 8, 1904 at Mingo and was a 1923 graduate of Mingo High School.
Mr. Gannon was a member of Sacred Heart catholic church in Valeria, National farmer’s Organization, Jasper county Farm Bureau and a former director of Mingo trust and Savings Bank.
Mr. Gannon had resided the past year at Colonial Manor in Baxter. He was a retired farmer.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. A. J. (Katherine Lucille) Kessler of Tyler, Texas, and a brother, Edward J. Gannon of Colfax.
