Former Colfax Resident Dies
Colfax Tribune: Carry Allen McVay was born at Hillsboro, Highland county, Ohio, on September 13, 1854, and lived there till two years of age, moving with his father and mother to Champayne county, Ohio. At eleven years of age he came with the family to Iowa, in 1865 at the close of the war. He was married to Martha J. Hook on April 22, 1878. To this union was born three children, namely George and Ellen who died in infancy and Mrs. Lula Carpenter, of Des Moines, Ia. His wife died on November 8, 1888 and he was again married to Virginia Ellen Vanwey on January 22, 1890. To this union was born four daughters, namely: Mrs. Frank Warrick, of Valeria, Ia.; Mrs. Allen Warrick, of Colfax, Ia.; Mrs. Fred Schoondyke, Colfax, and Mrs. Grace Castelline, of Des Moines, Ia., and a widow survive him.
He was a member of the Dunkard church at Des Moines. He leaves his family, three brothers and one sister. For some three years he has been suffering with cancer that proved fatal on April 21, 1921. he will be well remembered in this vicinity having lived here some forty-six years.
He was laid to rest in the Oralabor cemetery near Des Moines, Ia.
