Lavera Green, age 91 formerly of Prairie City, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025 at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:30 am at the Prairie City Christian Church. The family will greet friends following the service at a luncheon at the church. Burial will take place at Waveland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Christian Church and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The daughter of Doyle and Catherine (Clymer) Kinart, Lavera was born on December 15, 1933, in Prairie City. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1951. On September 18, 1953, she was united in marriage to John Edward Green at the Christian Church in Prairie City. As a farm wife, Lavera was no stranger to hard work. She also enjoyed gardening; her flowers, and sewing. Back in the day she was a member of the Golden Rule Circle club.

Those left to honor her memory include her three children, Karla (Russ) Sukut, Chris (Linette) Green and Janet (Greg) Townley; 12 grandchildren, Christopher (Brooke) Farver, Katie (Jeremy) Davis, James (Rebecca) Frank, Marissa (John) Sharbaugh, Jessica (Devin) Hackler, Andrew (Paige) Parsons, Jon (Tiffany) Sukut, Dustin (Myriam) Green, Jennifer (Tyler) Dahms, Mitchell (Lupe) Green, Megan (Brady) North, and Hanna Townley; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Lavera in death were her parents, husband in 2019, an infant grandson, Timothy Townley and her siblings, John Kinart, Viva Wilson and Doris Veverka.
