Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Ulmer
December 17, 1942 ~ January 31, 2025 (age 82)Kenneth “Kenny” Ray Ulmer, 82, of Newton, formerly of Sioux City, died on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Accura Health Care of Newton East. No services are scheduled at this time. A burial will be held at the Logan Cemetery in Sioux City at a later date.
Kenny, the son of Herman “Bud” and Matilda “Tillie” (Bechtold) Ulmer, was born on December 17, 1942 in Menno, South Dakota. He grew up helping his family on their dairy farm. As an adult, he moved to Sioux City and worked and later retired from Soo Tractor Sweep Rake, Co. On January 14, 2005, Kenny was united in marriage with Ann Doak in Sioux City. He was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed using his handle “Sneaky Snake” during the CB radio days. Kenny could also be found spending time tinkering in his garage. Recently, Kenny and Ann moved to Newton.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Ann Ulmer of Newton; sons, Mike Ulmer and Rollie Ulmer (Tammy), both of Sioux City; his stepchildren, Mark Wilson of Sheldon, Lori Wilson of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Jayda Hollander (Jason Schneider) of Newton; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Herman (Ann) Ulmer; mother, Tillie Torgenson; his wife, Shirley Ulmer; a son, Steven Ulmer; and brother, Eddie Ulmer.
